When creating promotional works for companies, the backgrounds are always my favourite part of the process.
Here are a few examples.
Green & Blue
Illustrative interpretation of the short story Green & Blue by Virginia Woolf
One Flew Over The Cuckcoo's Nest
University brief (Penguin Design Awards) - I was asked to create a front cover for the book 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' by Ken Kesey and to create insert illustrations. For the illustrations, I chose to concentrate on the main characters and how the lead character McMurphy influenced them. I looked at human anatomy as a malfunctioning machine and explored different body parts that related to the out comings of the characters. I carried on the theme of anatomy for my book cover and used the head as the main focal point. This was to round up the events of the book and for my illustrations to work in unison.
The Wasp Factory
University brief - This is an illustartive interpretation of the book 'The Wasp Factory' by Iain Banks. These are images through the eyes of Frank, a misunderstood child, who decides to kill members of his family from a young age. How he kills his victims are far from the usual techniques and I wanted to capture just that.
